Answer three questions to know if I’m right to help your business
You run a business. Or maybe you are your business.
Maybe you’re just getting started, and you don’t exactly know where to begin. In fact, maybe you don’t have a clue.
More likely, you’ve been at it a while, things were going gangbusters until one day your pride and joy smacked into a ceiling. Things got stale. People you work with began to disengage, or look lost. Customers, while they weren’t leaving in droves just didn’t seem as excited as when they first found you.
Come to think of it, maybe you’re a touch bored yourself. That new product or service you were so fired up about just doesn’t feel satisfying any more, every time you go to launch something you keep waiting because it’s not quite “right” yet.
You can’t figure it out. The market conditions are ok, or maybe they’re changing but you’ve always been able to adapt before. You’ve got the capital, or you can get it, but you’re worried. Maybe you’re not hemorrhaging money exactly, but you’re feeling a little anemic. You’ve got the people, or at least you think you do, but now that I mention it they do seem to be taking up more of your time than they used to because they’re just not quite with you.
Question 1: Does it feel a bit like I’ve set up camp in your head and spying on you?
If the answer is “yes” or “yes you sonofabitch,” keep reading. That’s one question down.
The thing is, the only reason that it feels like I’ve been spying on you is because we’ve all been through it. All of us. Solopreneurs, entrepeneurs, corporate executives, leaders of nonprofits, organizational heads, all of us. Yes, all of us, at least anyone who has been successful. Because anyone who’s been successful has also experienced two things: we’ve been afraid, and we’ve hit ceilings.
If you’ve been really successful, you’ve also experienced one other thing: you’ve failed. Being really successful means going all in, taking risks, understanding that the saying should have been, “If at first you don’t succeed, DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT.” And that’s what you need to do, right now.
Really. Right now. You need to think differently, do differently. Maybe you need to blow it up and start over, or maybe you just need a new direction, but tinkering won’t get you through a ceiling.
Taking your company to a whole new level of yes involves much more than a couple of tweaks, and it sure as heck takes more than a formula or off-the-shelf canned goods. It takes really getting to the heart of you and your business and there is no way to accomplish that except to show up, dig in, and do the work to find the way through to next.
That thing I said at the beginning, that “Maybe you are your business?” It’s not maybe, it’s just the way it is.
Question 2: Are you willing to own your business, willing to look at yourself long and hard, and change?
Yes? That’s two questions down.
I’ll cut to the chase on the last question. If you’re still reading, and if you’ve spent any time on this website, you understand that I’m pretty irreverent. Respectful, yes. Compassionate, yes. But reverent? Nope. Willing to avoid the sacred cows? Nope. So …
Question 3: You OK with irreverent and ready to do some serious work, on you and your business?
If the answer to those three questions is “yes,” then it’s pretty sure that I’m going to want to work with you. Once we talk, I’m willing to bet you’ll want to work with me, too.
Then what are you waiting for? Shoot me a note to set up a call or a consult, or just to ask a question. Or, if you’re really ready book a 90 minute business consult that will get your blood pumping and your business moving. Right here!
